As of July 1, 2025, new legislation in Colorado mandates that individuals seeking a Concealed Carry Permit must complete a certified training course, pass a written test, and successfully complete a live fire exam. This change, outlined in House Bill 24-1174, reflects the state’s commitment to ensuring that all concealed carry permit holders are well-trained and knowledgeable about firearm safety and laws. Additionally, it’s important to note that in order to renew your Concealed Carry Permit, Colorado law now requires taking and passing a refresher course every 5 years. The refresher course requires an updated classroom session, successfully passing a written exam, and demonstrating competency in a live fire exam. This ensures that all permit holders remain up-to-date with the latest laws and best practices in firearm safety.
